Natural Vitamin K2-7
Vitamin K, discovered by Danish researcher Henrik Dam in 1929, was known to play a critical role in the coagulation cascade by activating various plasma clotting factors. Over the past 20 years, several other Vitamin K (VKD) dependent proteins have been discovered apart from the Vitamin K dependent clotting factors. Recent studies have shown that in addition to their role in carboxylation of coagulation factors, VKD proteins are involved in bone metabolism and the inhibition of arterial calcification. The two VKD proteins extensively studied in this regard are osteocalcin and matrix Gla Protein (MGP), both are present in extra hepatic tissue. In a long term, 4000 subject, Rotterdam population based study; an inverse relationship was demonstrated between dietary intake of menaquinone and aortic calcification and cardiovascular mortality. Subjects with higher dietary intake of menaquinone suffered lower incidences of CVD. Incidence of osteoporosis is lower in eastern Japan where consumption of menaquinone rich diet is higher compared to western Japan. In a 72,000 subject epidemiology study, women showed an inverse relation between Vitamin K intake and the risk of hip fracture. More Vitamin K, less hip fractures!
MK-7 is a highly bio-available form of Vitamin K2 with the longest half life when in the blood. Based upon the review of the recent Rotterdam population study and several other studies including studies of Natto (a food consumed in Japan and a natural rich source of MK-7), it is recommended to take a supplemental dose of 50 to 100g, of MK-7, daily for significant health benefits. MenaquinGold is natural Vitamin K2 known as menaquinone (MK-7, Vitamin K2-7). It is manufactured by Synergia Life Sciences using proprietary fermentation technology in a dedicated GMP facility.
Working with Synergia Life Sciences, NST has focused on offering a MK-7 (MenaquinGold) because MK-7 is redistributed by the liver and transported to the extra-hepatic tissues where deficiency is typically found. Vitamin K2-7 (MK-7) has a half-life of 72 hours when compared to 1.5 hours for Vitamin K1. The absorption of MK-7 is better; it has stable serum levels and accumulates to higher levels during prolonged intake. Contact us to learn more...
Natural nattokinase from bacillus subtilis fermentation
Nattokinase was discovered by Dr. Hiroyki Sumi in 1980. It is an enzyme extracted and purified from Natto, a cheese-like food made from fermented soybeans that has been eaten in Japan for many years. Natto is a staple food in particular regions of Japan, regions that enjoys a lower rate of heart disease and stroke when compared to the rest of the world. Nattokinase made from soybeans fermented with Bacillus Subtilis NAT (a very specific sub-strain of Bacillus Subtilis),was made available as a supplement in Japan about 20 years ago and has long enjoyed great success.
Nattokinase was introduced in the US by the management of NST in 2001. NattoGold, the next generation in Nattokinase therapy, has been available in the US since late 2006 after more than 3 years of extensive research to develop the best Nattokinase available. Contact us to learn more...
